Create a Launch Pad

So. I realized that I am really ADD. Like really. I can't focus. I forget things. I'm ADD. It's ticking me off how little I am getting done, because I am constantly chasing shinnies. I am at the point that I am so worried about it that I am actually going to the doctor to get diagnosed and checked out for the condition. Hopefully there will be strategies that I can put into place.

So I started checking out a bunch of books about ADD. One book suggested that I start a launch pad. A place where I can put things so I don't forget them on my way out the door.

Here is what my launchpad consists of:
A 2.99  snap case - where I put my wallet and my keys as soon as I walk in the door.
A 4.00 on sale carry case. (It's actually a scrapbook case- see through). I use this to bring things with me in my car, so they are all in one place and I can see through the case to know what I have to do. This way the things keep clean and they don't get lost.
A 6.00 laundry basket- So I can hide it when guests come.
In the basket I put the two cases.

I also add to the basket:
2 pairs of gloves - one running one driving.
a knit hat for running and housework
my water bottle
my lunch bag
some tupperware

So far it is working. It's been a week and I havent lost my keys! So much time gained in the morning!

2013 -Goals

Everyone says you need to write down goals in a place where you can see them. These goals are the things I want to achieve by the end of 2013. I will try to be SMART about these goals. These goals are going to be of the project type. I will keep you updated on these goals throughout the year and am including the reasons for these goals. Updated 06/01/2013
  1. Learn to play guitar for my daughter- every time I see shows like Glee or watch YouTube channels like Glove and Boots, it reminds me of how creative I used to be. I want to challenge my mind, while instilling a love for the arts for my daughter.
  2. Lose at least 20 lbs before next year. I need to be light to run. Plus, I really am not feeling healthy (FYI: according to BMI calculations I am only 35 lbs from being healthy, but my little toe keeps dipping into the obese category.)
  3. Run at least 10 races, with 2 of these races being more than 10 miles long.
  4. Raise at least $1000 for charity. Raised $1220 and climbing
  5. Make a website to educate my students and strangers world-wide about science. In progress.
  6. Find a summer job to help pay for my hobbies.
  7. Log 10 hours of open water dives.
Why did I choose a photo of water polo? Because these goals are going to be the same thing as scoring in a game of water polo. You need to maintain the offensive, and you will not make every shot, but you will need to make sure you keep hammering the goalie until your shot goes in.

I will still post challenges from time to time, and let you know how I handled them; where I found the information for completion, how I overcame procrastination and ADD, and what was the outcome.

See you soon. - P
